New greeting cards

Off out today with my new cards, 22 new designs, bringing the range up to 32 what I think are fantatstic pictorial art cards!  Will have a week of losing shoe leather around town and am confident that they will be well received by all after conducting local market research for the past 2 weeks.  This one shows the Shore in Edinburgh looking very continental.........a web site / page showing the range is in the pipeline too.

Magnolia tree #RBGE #Edinburgh

This was my Blipfoto entry for yesterday.  Decided to blog it as was very happy with the image of one of the most amazing Magnolia trees I have seen.  It is in the royal Boptanical Gardens in Edinburgh.

Copenhagen in Edinburgh

This detail is of Copenhagen, The Duke of Wellington's horse.  It stands at the east end of princes Street in Edinburgh with The Dike himself sitting on him.  The horses legs caught my attention as there are allegedly a set of rules connected with them.  In this instance, having the two front legs off the ground (his rear legs are firmly planted to the statues plinth) means that the rider died in battle.  Other combinations have different meanings.....

This padlock and its surroundings took my eye yesterday.  The simplicity of composition, texture of the metals and linear shapes created form an interesting image.

A view of Edinburgh

Dsc01531
Took a 'wander' up Arthur's seat in Edinburgh the other day.  Clear skies and a sunshine gave great views to every corner of the city.  This one is towards the castle, looking over the top of Salisbury crags.  Arthur's Seat is what remains of the main vent of an enormous volcano that once covered the area where Edinburgh now stands.  All the hills around the city formed a part of this giant which was reckoned to be the height of Mount Everest.....until the ice age came along that is!

New range of Edinburgh greeting cards

Just collected a box from my printers, Doricmor.  Inside are 24 new designs for my greeting cards range! They will supplement the existing 10 cards that I have already produced and are on sale around town.

The new designs have a varied feel to them with classic imagery from the Scottish capital and some more quirky pictures that I am sure will go down well too.  A lot of hard work and effort has gone into these photographs and their transformation into quality art cards - I can honestly say that to the best of my knowledge, I have not seen anything else quite like them on sale in Edinburgh.  I will keep you all posted about where to purchase them and hope to have a web site (or web page..) featuring them all up and running very soon.

A huge thanks to Stewart at Doricmor for doing such a great job, I totally reccommend them to anyone http://www.yourdoricmor.com

This striking shot shows shadow being bent on the steps of a Northumberland Street home in the New Town of Edinburgh.

Graveyard shift

Spend a lot of time in graveyards.  Not weird or morbid, just fascintaed by the masonry and sculpture on show..........this from Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh.

Another day, another dollar

I truly wish that I had a fistful of these!

Look into my eyes...

Or the 'eye of the tiger', I could not decide what was a worse title.......  An example of the sculpture that was dotted around Edinburgh last summer.

Victoria Street Edinburgh

This wonderfully quirky and colourful street is home to some great bars and restaurants.  The place is full of charm and character, a little like Edinburgh itself!

St James centre car park

Please do not be put off by the title and location.  I am pretty happy with the way I have made what is generally regarded as one of the most horrible buildings in the UK look.

The Place hotel Edinburgh

Had a very positive meeting yesterday with Jade at the Place hotel on York Place in Edinburgh. Hopeful of working with the owners and management team there to introduce my photographic artwork in all areas of the building in an effort to enhance what is already a well thought out and richly decorated interior.  The hotel itself is worthy a visit for a drink in the bar with its stunning Swarovski crystal lighting and if visiting Edinburgh consider booking a room here, I had a look at some of them and they were really quite something! http://www.yorkplace-edinburgh.co.uk/

Look to the stars........

Worthless?

Seen in Worthing, England.  Is this a valid comment, you tell me..??

It's a beuatifully sunny day in Edinburgh but I am sure that when I eventually leave the house to go to a meeting I have scheduled for this lunchtime, that I will be muttering to myself about why I didn't put another layer of clothing on.

Ah the Scottish weather: sitting in a warm house looking out at the streets bathed in sunshine tricks the mind into believing that the oustide temperature will be similar to that indoors, unfortunately it is not.........yet.

Damn: sporting weekend

Rangers beaten, Scotland with the spoon, one chance left......come on Chelsea....!!

The sporting weekend.........

Big 48 hours ahead.  Rangers playing away to Dundee Utd, Scotland playing for the dreaded wooden spoon and Chelsea up against Leicester City.........

All the blue teams have not been going too well recently so hopefully the next couple of days will remedy that!

One mans passion

Just passed a neighbours house. Wandering by I looked over the hedge to see him hard at work building the largest model railway set I have ever seen. Quite a project to undertake and, being an outdoor set up, a very brave approach to 'super-sizing' his hobby as the Scottish weather may not always smile on him. My passion is photography www.rightprofile-photography.co.uk and get deeply involved in it on a daily basis. I can therfeore understand how he must feel about this project.....what I cannot understand is why I am so jealous...........
